A manufacturer assembling cable harnesses produces also connector plugs for sensors and actors for industrial use. The structure of the electrical circuits is relatively simple.
During the long-lasting partnership with WEETECH this manufacturer has installed a huge set of different test systems. This includes W 424 and W 427 systems with IVIS 5 software as well as a W 434 with the new CEETIS software. All meet the needs for a number of different testing requirements.
The challenge is to synchronize the testing procedures in a way that no differences for the operators appear. It needs to allow the operators to switch from one test station to another without any introduction into the new system. In addition, the process needs to be as easy as possible.
The systems are designed and programmed in a way that the operator only needs to capture the job number with a hand-held scanner. In case an invalid job number is being scanned the further test procedure will be cancelled.
The systems access the centrally-managed data base that includes (besides other):
The test program is automatically selected by the test system and the test starts. In case of an error-free test, the result as well as the counter will be reported to the data base. An individual protocol will be generated and archived under a specific name in a customer-defined path. In case of an error there are individual, product-depending procedures in place.
Since the operator only scans the job number, the risk of human errors has been minimized. In case an invalid job number will be scanned, access would be denied and an invalid electrical test can’t be processed. Further, the complete test process has been designed for simplicity. The operator doesn’t need to get an extensive training nor a time-consuming introduction. The operation of many different generations of test systems happens in one global procedure.
